Loddiswell (Lodiswille in Domesdaybook) lies high above the valley.
Its church (St Michaels) dates back to the 14 century - the font is part of the original 11th century building.
Roman coins have been found north of the village.
After heavy rain wellies may be advisable.

Both walks pass , about half way , a sign for Avon Mill Cafe & Garden Centre; turn left and cross bridge then right for refreshments ; retrace steps to continue the walk.

Walk 1 Avon valley (5.2 miles)
Difficulty:
A delightful dog friendly 5 mile hike following mainly public footpaths and lanes.
There is one steep descent to the river Avon.

In Silveridge wood the path runs along an abandoned railway line to South Brent.
After crossing the river you turn left and continue following the river back towards Loddiswell.

Walk 2 Avon valley shorter walk (3.5 miles)
Difficulty:
This equally pleasant walk along the Avon to Silveridge Wood avoids a busy stretch.
It follows more public footpaths than lanes.
