Haldon

An easy and most popular circular walk through Haldon forest past the obelisk, towering above Mamhead; it dates back to 1742 when it was constructed by Thomas Balle, owner of Mamhead, to serve as a landmark for ships sailing up the Exe.
Here you can enjoy a picnic and truly breathtaking views of Exeter and the estuary.

The route joins an area used for exercising Huskies - so be prepared !
Just before your return,a recent clearing of forest land has created unique views of the coastline between Exmouth & Dawlish.
