Crediton
 

Crediton, referred to by the locals as Kirton, holds a Farmers Market on the first and third Saturday of every month in the market square.


The church of the Holy Cross was the cathedral of the Lord Bishop of Crediton until 1050.

AThis short but very pleasant walk starts in a car park behind the station. Facing the railway line turn right into a track then onto a public footpath.

B This leads through the Downs Crediton golf course
CThe route follows the river Yeo
D It returns via a steady climb to Queen Elizabeth's School and the outskirts of the town.
After a wet spell, some tracks could become muddy.
There is one steep climb.

Shobrooke, East of Crediton, is a most popular centre for walkers. Two great walks with extensive views of tranquil rolling hills.
  
 
 Morchard Bishop
Morchard (Large Wood) Bishop lies almost halfway on the Two Moors Way . In the village you will find a detailed map of all the footpaths in the area ,a welcome sign to all walkers and hikers.
  
 
 Colebrooke
The landscape around has not been changed for centuries and is dotted with old Devon cottages and manor houses. A very pleasant pub walk.
  
 
 Sandford
Enjoy a delightful walk to Upton Hellions' Church.

This very pleasant pub walk now starts at Shobrooke Park due to parking restrictions at Crediton Sports Centre ; it takes you through Shobrooke Park ,past Shobrooke church and returns via the Red Lion at Shobrooke.


It follows part of the Devonshire Heartland Way, a long distance path from Stoke Canon to Okehampton.
During a wet spell some of the fields may be wet.
