Walk 1
Distance:6.8 miles | Time:2h 50 mins |
Although the walk is over two and a half hours long, it takes you past several charming country pubs (Weston & Awliscombe) and the lanes through this remarkably open landscape are very quiet. The views from St Cyres hill are stunning . A stretch at the top through the woods is almost a private lane and in spring shows an abundance of bluebells and other wild flowers.Part of the wood is used by Landrover Experience where 'one can test one's 4x4 (s)'. This unspoilt area is steeped in history dating back to pre-Roman times. The walk passes a commemorative WW1 cross.Honiton boasts a lively street market on Tuesdays. Most of walk is through quiet country lanes. A combe is a fertile valley with steep sides. There are two very steep climbs. |
