Although short, this walk is quite strenuous with a fair amount of climbing particularly along the coast . However, the views of Exmouth and the Jurassic Coast are quite stunning. A Follow Old Teignmouth Road back towards Dawlish. Road becomes a footpath. B Cross over into Coronation Road then almost immediately turn left onto a grass strip between houses and Teigmouth Road. This doesn't look like a path but soon becomes more defined.In fact,you are following the Teignmouth & Dawlish Way. C Cross residential road and take path into woods. Turn right at end of path joining a pubic footpath. D At junction with lane turn left into Oakhill Cross Road.Ater 280m where lane bends sharply , turn right into service road which soon becomes a track. Continue climbing ,ignore track on left and after 370m turn left onto a public footpath. Turn left into Sweetbriar Lane then right. E At T junction turn right into Holcombe Road Holcombe , a sheltered village with numerous thatched houses, boasts one very friendly pub, the Castle Inn which serves food as well. This could be a welcome relief? Continue past church then left into Hall lane. F When you join the main Dawlish to Teignmouth Road, turn left and continue along pavement for 160m. Cross road into Windward Lane the take footpath on leftG The walk follows a footpath along the coast passing a field reserved for watching the annual Dawlish Air Show. There are several steep climbs. |
