Berry Pomeroy castle was built in Tudor times and is said to be haunted by the spirits of two ladies.
Marldon's 14th century church is worth a visit.
Near here the annual 'Apple Pie Fair' dating back to the 18th century has recently been revived and is held on the last Saturday in July.
