There are 2 Bickleighs in Devon, one near Plymouth and this one, near Tiverton. Perhaps to avoid confusion, the old railway station was called Cadeleigh.
There are several circular walks from Bickleigh, all quite strenuous and following some paths but mostly quiet, narrow lanes.

This moderate walk follows part of the scenic Exe Valley Way and passes Bickleigh Castle with its 6th century chapel, arguably the oldest building in Devon - access by appointment only. There are no pubs en route and the walk has one steep climb. |

If you are setting off from Tiverton take the road past the museum and follow the river and the Exe Valley Way via Collipriest - see map. Paths are generally well maintained though stretches of the walk can be wet.

A most delightful walk of moderate difficulty to Cadeleigh - after a wet spell stretches along the river need wellies. There is still a pub in Cadeleigh, the Cadeleigh Arms , now owned by the community and well worth a visit! |
