Walk 1 Otter River and Moorland (7.5 miles)
This delightful walk initially follows the river Otter and passes an impressive weir & trout ladder ;it then turns towards Colaton Raleigh with its famous cob wall and crosses part of the old Budleigh to Newton Poppleford railway line . It then climbs steadily until the edge of Colaton Raleigh Common .The views are stunning.
You return skirting Bicton Park and the ruins of an old Bicton Church - '...a small ancient structure,situated in a romantic spot,encircled by a beautiful screen of woods,in the lower part of the park,but it will be taken down after the completion of the handsome new church,now (1849,) erecting near it by Lady Rolle. . . '
